Wedding Anniversary Destination ~ Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Less than two months ago my husband and I finalized our much anticipated getaway to spend some time together and celebrate our wedding anniversary.  We did not have any idea where we wanted to go, but wanted a place we had never been to before where it was warm and beautiful.  And, where we would each travel with only a carry on… That’s where the adventure began!

We chose to visit the Paradisus Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.  It was absolutely fabulous!  I don’t know about you, but there is something about swaying palm trees (and Cana trees),  the sound of the ocean waves and the feeling of warmth from the sun that makes everything tranquil…  George and I spent five days enjoying each other’s company, met some great people from far away places, and even ventured out to explore the island via a buggy tour.  Take a look at our escape to us!  And of course, as much as I tried not to bring any work with me (my gear did not fit in my carry on – all images were taken with our iPhones), I did decide that this is a beautiful resort for a destination wedding and I would be happy to bring work with me next time I visit!

From the hustle and bustle of New York City to this in 5 hours!

As Corona would say, “relax responsibly”… I found my beach.  With an iced cold diet coke…What a gorgeous backdrop to say your “i do”s!  Destination weddings at this resort were gorgeous.  We met a couple from California who will be having their wedding here next year, and two couples from the south who invited us to crash their wedding.  After the invite we decided that we really wouldn’t be crashing their wedding, after all we knew the bride and groom! And nothing like a Pina Colada or a Daiquiri to quench your thirst in the company of new friends!  (Beware of the infamous mama juana drink) It’s always 5 o’clock here…And on Friday morning we ventured out to explore the country outside our resort where we had the opportunity to see the people and the place they call home.

All geared up to brave the elements of our buggy tour, we set off to visit and take a dip at a gorgeous, secluded beach.  We also stopped to learn about local hand-made cigars, coffee and cocoa.  And for George to take a dip in a cave as I watched from above 🙂

We spent our last morning on the beach taking it all in.

Happy Anniversary to the leading man in my love story!
